We all now that exercise is good fro us! Don’t we?
We all know the benefits:
-helps control weight
-reduce blood pressure
-improved body shape (body image)
-cuts down the chances of dying young
-reduce risk of hearth disease
-reduce risk of diabetes
-may stave off some forms of dementia
Exercise make perfect sense if you want to stay fit! But where is the STRESS in this picture? Did you know that physical activity can help you reduce and control stress?? How??
Well there are few theories out there:
-it boosts serotonin in the brain and this reduce stress
-it boosts endorphins, “feel good hormone” and boosts are over all wellbeing
-it help boos your self esteem, by giving us new goals and purposes
-it makes you feel you are in control of you life !
How much you should do, is totally up to you, as little as you like….
I do enjoy gym, I enjoy running, … I set goal for my self to run marathon next spring, please check on me from time to time to find out how is my training going. Last one I run few years back, (see the pic below) was amazing achievement for me! What are your plans, exercise goals?
So, do you need lycra and fancy gear? Definitely not! Brisk walk, swimming, badmintons, hiking, aerobics video, pilates, …. run, or bike with kids….( or even marathon with the kids) ☺ Choices are endless. But one thing is important – do what you like! Do what you enjoy, what put smile on your face. Bear in mind if you do outdoor activities, or join the gym, will get you out of house, you will also meet other people. This can be help in it self, as we talk about the other day.
Getting started is hardest part – I know! But once you get into it, you will find your self looking forward to next session.
