Our body uses water in all its cells, organs, and tissues to help regulate its temperature and maintain other bodily functions. Because our body loses water through breathing, sweating, and digestion, it’s important to rehydrate by drinking fluids and eating foods that contain water.
There are many benefits to staying hydrated, and I will mention only a few of them:
Improves skin complexion
Promotes weight loss
Speeding up metabolism
Maintains regular bowel movements
Flushes out toxins
The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine determined that adequate daily fluid intake is: about 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of fluids for men and about 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) of fluids a day for women.
I know that sometimes it can be annoying to drink plain water; therefore, I wanted to share with you recipe for what is called Sassy Water.
Sassy Water Recipe
You will need:
Eight 1⁄2cups (~2 liters) of water (filtered water is ideal) One teaspoon grated ginger (for keeping the metabolism rate) One medium cucumber, sliced thin (helps your body release sufficient water) One medium lemon, sliced thin (digestive support of your organism to cleanse the liver) 12 mint leaves (stops sweets cravings)
Mix all ingredients in a bowl and leave to refrigerate overnight, following morning strain water. Drink during the day.
