Not enough sleep can seriously ruin your health, and for that reason is very important to sleep 8 hours a day in order to maintain all neurological functions.
One of most important functions of the brain is to clean up cognitive garbage that we collect over the course of the day, if we restrict our self from sleep we are restricting our brain function as well.
Saying that, you can bot ketch up on your sleep by sleeping in on weekends till noon, you can only do your self a favor if you try to mimic natural sleeping cycle.
Go to bed early and get up before 9am.
If you are not getting enough sleep during the week, the best way to level it out is to follow the natural sleeping path over the weekends, as mention before early bed and wake up before 9am.
If you are struggling to fall a sleep, try with some of the relaxation exercise, focus and the slowly relax each group of muscles, tight and relax for 5 sec. Starting form you toes and slowly move up towards your head. At the very end visualize what ever relaxes you, beach, sun, or family day out.
I strongly recommend mindfulness practice stay tunes for more on that subject.
